Addisons Disease

Addison's Disease, a disease in which a peculiar bronzing of the skin is accompanied by the development of nausea, vomiting, and extreme debility. It was shown by Dr. Addison, of Guy's Hospital, to be intimately associated with tubercular disease of the suprarenal bodies, i.e. those bodies placed at the front of the upper part of each kidney. The hue of the skin is the most characteristic symptom; it is distinguished from jaundice by the fact that the conjunctivae (the mucous membrane lining the inner portion of the eyelids) remain unaffected.
