Ankarstrom

Ankarstrom, Johann Jakob, a Swede of good family, born in 1761, who, after serving in the royal guard, conspired with Count Horn and others against the despotism of Gustavus III. On the night of March 15, 1792, he shot the king at a masked ball. He was pilloried, scourged, had his hand cut off, and was finally beheaded.
