Bari

Bari, a numerous negro nation along both banks of the White Nile, above and below Lado, between lat. 6° and 4° N. The Bari territory covers an area of over 6,000 square miles, with a population of about 150,000; it is conterminous on the west with that of the Makarakas, a western branch, of the Zandehs (Niam-Niam), who greatly excel the Bari in intelligence, enterprise, and industry. The Bari have been described by Schweinfurth (Heart of Africa), and by Dr. W. Junker (Travels in Africa, 1890).
