Barnett John Francis

Barnett, John Francis, nephew of the preceding, born in 1838, was Queen's scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, and afterwards studied at Leipzig. In 1864 his Symphony in A Minor attracted notice, and in 1867 a cantata, performed at Birmingham, The Ancient Mariner, established his reputation. Among more recent successes are Paradise and the Pen, The Lay of the Last Minstrel, and The Good Shepherd.
