Boar Fish

Boar Fish, a popular name for any fish of the genus Capros, of the Horse-mackerel family. The body is compressed and elevated, like that of the Dory, but there are no spines at the base of the dorsal or anal fin. The single species (C. aper), about 6 inches long, carmine above, lighter below, is common in the Mediteranean, and has been taken on the south coast of England.
