Bonneville

Bonneville, Nicholas de (1700-1828), a French writer and student of German literature. He made a translation of Shakespeare, and published some German tales under the title of Nouveau Theatre Allemand. His moderation in politics seems to have been disagreeable to whatever party was in power, for the revolutionists imprisoned him, and he could not make himself pleasing to Napoleon. L'Histoire de l'Europe Moderne, and L'Esprit des Religions, are two of his works that have made some impression.
