Bruhl

Bruhl, Heinrich, Count von, statesman, was born in 1700 at Weissenfels. Having served as a page to the Duchess of Saxe-Weissenfels, he rose by his tact to the position of prime minister of Augustus III., King of Poland, to gratify whose profligate wishes he recklessly squandered the resources of the state. Bruhl also enriched himself and lived in greater magnificence than even the king himself. His library of 62,000 volumes is now one of the chief features of the royal library at Dresden. He died in 1763.
