Chemnitz

Chemnitz, a town of Saxony, situated on a river of the same name at the foot of the Erzgebiege. It is the centre of the cotton-weaving industry in the kingdom, and is known as the "Saxon Manchester." It has also manufactures of woollens, silks, and other textile fabrics, as well as factories for making machinery.
