Cibrario

Cibrario, Luigi (1802-1870), Italian historian and politician, was born at Turin, and studying the law, entered the State service, and soon became distinguished for his researches in history. At the Italian rising of 1848 he was appointed by Charles Albert commissioner at Venice, and senator of Sardinia. In 1852 he became minister of public instruction, and in 1855 foreign minister. Besides other works on history, numismatics, and different subjects he published (1839) Economica Politico, de Medio Evo; Storia della Monarchia di Savoia (1840); and Storia di Torino (1847).
