Coercive Force

Coercive Force, the older expression for magnetic resistance (q.v.). The terms magnetic reluctance, molecular rigidity, and magnetic inertia are also variously employed to express the same state - that of the resistance to magnetisation that iron exhibits when placed in a magnetic field, and its subsequent resistance to part with its magnetism when removed from the field.
