Constantius

Constantius, Flavus Valerius, often called Chlorus (pale), was born about 250 A.D., being the son of Eutropius, a noble Dalmatian. He was a soldier of high repute, and received the government of his native province. In 292 Diocletian and Maximian conferred on him as on Galerius the title of Caesar, and assigned to him the administration of Gaul, Spain, and Britain He then divorced his wife Helena, and married Theodosia, Maximian's daughter, who became the mother of Constantine the Great. He succeeded Diocletian as emperor, and was proclaimed Augustus in 305, but died at York the next year.
