Dionysius of Halicarnassus (70-6 b.c), a Greek historian, critic, and rhetorician, went to Rome 30 B.C. There he lived for 20 years, learning Latin and amassing materials for Iris history of Rome. His Bomailte Archaiologia was in 20 books, and treated of history from the early times down to the First Punic war. Books 1-9 are entire, 10 and 11 nearly so, and there are fragments of others.
