Erskinethe Hon Henry

Erskine, the Hon. Henry (1746-1817), anoted Scottish barrister, born at Edinburgh, was a son of the Earl of Buchan. His great talents won for him a high place in the profession, and his other qualities caused him to be much esteemed. Being a Whig he wras appointed Lord Advocate in the Rockingham administration, but on its fall he suffered professionally on account of his political views. In 1806 he was again Lord Advocate and M.P. for the Dumfries burghs. The latter part of his life he passed in retirement through ill-health.
