Festus

Festus, Sextus Pompeius (probably about 300 A.D.), a Roman grammarian, who wrote a kind of Latin dictionary - an abridgment of one by Verrius Flaccus - which is valuable for the light it throws upon Latin etymology. Only one MS. of his work is known to exist. A good edition was produced at Gottingen in 1839 by K. 0. Meiller.
