Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle, the name applied in England to the genus Lonicera, of which there are three indigenous species. They are shrubs with simple, opposite leaves, a small five-toothed calyx, a monosymmetric bi-labiate corolla with reflexed lobes, four in the posterior and one forming the anterior lip, five stamens and a baccate fruit. L. Periclyminuntisthe common Honeysuckle, the Woodbine of Shakespeare, the twisted Eglantine of Milton and Tennyson. Other species are L. Caprifolium and L. Xylostenm.
