Isotropism

Isotropism signifies the state of complete identity of the properties of a body in all directions from any point in it. An isotropic body is essentially homogeneous, but homogeneous bodies also include those that are termed ctolotropic. Such have complete identity of properties at two different points, in the same direction, but the properties are not identical in all directions from the same point. Water is isotropic, rock-crystal is aeolotropic; both are homogeneous bodies.
