Kinrossshire

Kinross-shire, a county of Scotland, bounded by Perthshire on the N. and W., and by Fifeshire on the E. and S.; area, 78 square miles. It consists of a level plain surrounded by hills, ranging from 734 to 1,573 feet in height. On the W. side of Loch Leven, which occupies the centre of the plain, and 27 miles N.N.W. of Edinburgh, stands the capital, Kinross, an ancient town, containing Kinross House (1685), designed by Sir William Bruce, the architect of Holyrood.
