Lepidus

Lepidus, Marcus AEmilius, was the colleague of Julius Caesar in the consulate in 46 B.C., and in his absence supported his interests at Rome. With Antony and Octavian he ruled the Roman world for a brief space (43 to 37 B.C.), having Africa as his province; but he was a "slight unmeritable man," and it was his wealth only which gave him influence. He took the part of Antony against his rival, but Augustus left him his wealth and dignities, and he died in peace in 13 B.C.
