Naevius

Naevius, Cnaeus, an early Roman poet, flourished in the 3rd century B.C. He was born in Campania, and composed tragedies and comedies upon Greek models, as well as an epic upon the Punic War, and another after the pattern of the Cyprian Ilias. His satire upon the Roman aristocracy led to his banishment, and he died at Utica. Fragments only of his works are extant.
