Pausanias

Pausanias, a Greek traveller and writer on topography, flourished in the 2nd century A.D., under Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, and Marcus Aurelius. He is supposed to have been born in Lydia. His Hellados Periegesis, a sort of guidebook to Greece, with descriptions of temples, sculptures, etc., and local myths, though possibly in great part a compilation, is full of value, both for the antiquary and the anthropologist.
