Phalangidae

Phalangidae, an order of the class Arachnida (q.v.), the members of which are characterised by the extreme length of their legs and the breadth of the abdomen, which is not marked off from the cephalothorax by any marked line of separation; the abdomen is in general form like that of the spiders, but it is segmented. The typical genus is Phalangiuin; the body in the members of this genus is usually about an eighth of an inch in width, while the span of the legs is about an inch and a half. Their popular name is "harvest-men."
