Reid Sir William KCB

Reid, Sir William, K.C.B. (1791-1858), born in Fifeshire, is chiefly known as a scientific man, though he served with distinction under Wellington, and became Governor of Bermudas, Barbadoes, and Malta successively. In 1838 he published a valuable work on The Lam of Storms, which ran through many editions, and secured his election to the Royal Society in 1839.
