Ringworm

Ringworm, a skin disease, due to the growth of a fungus known as the Trichophyton tonsurans. Ringworm frequently affects the scalp it children, causing loss of hair in patches, with the formation of circumscribed areas in which broken-off stumps of hair are left like stalks in a stubble-field. Ringworm sometimes occurs in adult males, affecting the hairy parts of the face, and is then known as sycosis. Ringworm also at times affects the body, producing raised patches, with a reddened and elevated margin.
