Ristori Adelaide

Ristori, Adelaide (b. 1821), tragic actress, is the daughter of two strolling Italian players, and made her first appearance on the stage, it is said, at the age of two months. Her regular debut occurred in 1835, and she made a great reputation as a tragic queen. In 1847 she married an Italian marquis, and retired from the profession for awhile, but, returning, played with notable success in all the European capitals, her impersonation of Lady Macbeth being considered superb.
