Runcorn

Runcorn, in in Cheshire, a port on the left bank of the Mersey, 12-1/2 miles SE. of Liverpool. It has a town hall and a public ball, and large docks in connection with the Manchester Ship Canal. The L&N.W.R. crosses the river by a fine bridge. Ship-buiding, rope-making. and tanning are carried on, and there are chemical soap works.
