Sage

Sage (Salvia officinalis), a familiar pot-herb belonging to the genus Labiatae (q.v.) which includes many species with showy flowers well known in our flower-garden. The woolly leaves of the sage have an aromatic bitter taste, and are used in the preparation of force-meat or "stuffing" for pork or geese.
