Seraing

Seraing, a town in the province of Liege, Belgium, 3 miles from Liege on the right bank of the Meuse, being connected with Jemeppe by a suspension-bridge. It was formerly the abode of the Prince-Bishops of Liege, whose palace was in 1817 converted into ironworks by John Cockerill. The construction of locomotives is the chief industry. The coal- and iron-fields of Belgium are in the immediate neighbourhood.
