Tench

Tench, any fish of the genus Tinca of the Carp family, with a single specles, T. vulgaris, frequenting stagnant waters, but more common on the Continent than in Britain. Tench of three feet long are on record, but less than half that size is far above the average. The usual colour is brown with a yellow tinge, The so-called Golden Tench are fish w1th a tendency to albinism.
