Tenterden

Tenterden, CHARLES ABBOT, BARON (1762-1832), lawyer, was horn at Canterbury. In 1816 he became a puisne judge of the Common Pleas, but during the same year he was transferred to the King's Bench. He was made Lord Chief Justice in 1818, and raised to the peerage in 1827. In 1802 he published the Law of Merchant Ships and Seamen.
