Ulm

Ulm, a city of Wurttemberg, situated on the left bank of the Danube, about 46 miles S.E. of Stuttgart. The river being navigable from this point, Ulm has long been a place of commercial and military importance, and was one of the Imperial free cities. The cathedral is the finest specimen of 14th-Century Gothic in Germany after the famous Dom of Cologne. Here in 1805 Mack surrender to the French under Ney.
